Raw and honest photography of babies photographed just after birth.

French Photographer Christian Berthelot explains that the objective of the Cesar series, that… “Far from the clichés and platitudes, I wanted to show us, as we are when we are born.” These photographs captures babies between three and eighteen seconds after birth from a Caesarean section — a procedure in which the baby is removed via an incision in the mother’s abdomen.
